When the Math Doesn't Add Up

by Gina Franklin

I must admit that math is NOT my strong suit. My husband on the other hand, is a math whiz! He is my walking calculator and I love that about him. But I want to talk about God's form of math. In terms of addition 5+2=7; but when God does the math 5+2=5,000; I say this because what you and I place in God's hands He multiplies it. It increases! His ways are not our ways, the things of God do not add up. Read in your Bible Mark 6:30-44 Where Jesus feeds 5,000 people with 5 loaves and 2 fish ;after everyone had eaten and were SATISFIED, the disciples picked up 12 basketful of broken pieces of bread and fish. There was more at the end than what they started with. The math does not add up, even to a math challenged person like me. God does not work in addition; he works in multiplication. Are you inspired yet? "If you and I will learn to put the little we have in our hands into the hand of God, it won't just add up; God will multiply it." The Circle Maker, Mark Batterson

Here is something that has really rocked my perspective. Before the miracle that took place that day; what did Jesus do? This passage tells us that He gave thanks. He didn't wait for the miracle to happen to give thanks. He thanked God BEFORE the miracle happened. He didn't just pray through, he praised through. For those of you who do not know me very well, I am not a name it and claim it kind of believer. I believe we seek God and the promises and the dreams that He places within us; are what will be given to us, no matter what. God will not be manipulated by my selfish desires; and I am thankful for that. I am meditating on the truth that once I have saturated something in prayer, and God has spoken to me about what I am praying for; it is time to begin to thank him for the fulfilment of those prayers. As I sit here and type this blog, it's not just my thoughts; it's a personal revelation that is taking place within my spirit. I am humbled that the Divine, loves me, a flawed sinner enough to continually pour out his love and presence in my life. And He is and will do the same for you.

Life is Beautiful!
